Wine Country Anniversary Weekend

Temecula is one of those magical places that truly encompasses the beauty of the SoCal desert. Through all the winding hills under puffy clouded blue skies there is an excitement of untamed raw beauty that reminds me deeply of my favorite parts of growing up in the southwest. It’s a place where elements of the wild meet a lush and thriving wine culture that is an inland oasis to escape big city life. The very first moment that Graham and I visited Temecula, we fell in love with its romantic charm, so much so that we chose to get married there.

In honor of our first year wedding anniversary, we were yearning to go back to Temecula and basque in the memories of our wedding while making new ones to carry us forward. One place always stood out as our go to dreamy vacation spot is Ponte Vineyard Inn and Winery.

It is easy to swoon over all the gorgeous luxuries Ponte has to offer. The property is a feast for the eyes, with Spanish-style architecture overlooking their stunning vineyard with a backdrop of Temecula’s rolling hills. You instantly feel transported far from home, when in reality you are only a couple hours south from LA down the freeway. If anyone else loves the idea of getting to Europe by car, this is the adventure for you!

Upon arrival we were greeted by a warm and welcoming staff and given a bottle of Ponte’s Moscato to kick off the celebration of our wedding anniversary. This is a standard for celebrating your anniversary on the property, and the classiest way to kick off the weekend. We ventured up to our room that was stocked with lush amenities including a gorgeous bathroom with an oversized shower, a balcony view of the vineyard, and the most luxurious king size bed that essentially felt like you were sleeping on cloud nine. Clearly we were in heaven. Graham and I are always on the go so this really solidified our choice to stay on the Ponte property for the weekend and soak up all it had to offer. Spoiler alert, it was absolutely the right choice!

We started the day off with a lovely brunch at Bouquet, the restaurant located on the inn side of the Ponte property. Since I have to eat gluten free I was extra appreciative of all the options I had available to me. Graham and I also beelined to the bloody mary bar to start the day off right. Ponte is known as a getaway, but also a sought after wedding venue with several locations to cater to whatever style best fits your wedding vision. One of my favorite parts of breakfast was overhearing a father exuberantly say “Hello Son, I can call you that now” to his new son-in-law as the newlyweds came down to join their parents for a post wedding day breakfast. It made me a little emotional remembering the joy of our wedding last year.

Prior to our wine tasting adventures, we made our way to the pool (our homeland) where we indulged with our celebratory bottle of Moscato by the pool, and maybe got into a Rosé too! A quick insider tip, Ponte will bless you with an ice bucket along with plastic glasses as well as a carafe so you too can enjoy your wine while you are in the pool. Epitome of living your best life? I think YES!

After we soaked up enough sun, we made our way across the Ponte grounds to the tasting room. The tasting room is absolutely stunning, with high exposed wood ceilings and a plethora of different wines to explore. It is so cool to see the entire process of wine making culminate into a tasting experience. Graham hit up the reds, and I was heavily invested in the sparkling wines. A surprise favorite was a sparkling red that lit up my palette. It’s always so fun to be able to try new wines, and I love hearing Graham go to town exchanging wine jargon with the tasting room staff! That’s what I get for marrying a man who has his first level sommelier certification, and I love every minute of it! After we had our fill (literally) we sauntered back to our room to change for dinner at the restaurant on the vineyard.

We finished off our stay with a romantic dinner and a walk back through a path lit up with fairy lights through the vineyard. To say the our time at Ponte was memorable is an understatement. We are trying to make it a tradition to return as often as possible for our anniversary. I can not sing enough praises to the fabulous service, standards, and stay we had at Ponte. You can view some excellent videos of our stay on my Instagram, in particular my wine country highlight will take you on the journey with us. Come follow along here.

I can not express my gratitude enough for Ponte’s generous collaboration on our stay. We will be fondly day dreaming about our time there until our next adventure!

XO,

JB
